About the Speakers

Dr Deborah Lee-Talbot is a Melbourne-based historian and founder of Colourful Histories. Deborah is fascinated by the social histories of archives, women’s history and local (Oceania) politics. Her current research examines the ethical challenges of using historical data in AI models. She explores how machine learning and generative AI are reshaping public access to historical records and shifting who creates and presents the past.

Dr Mike Jones is a professional historian, archivist, and researcher based in Naarm (Melbourne). For the past 18 years he has collaborated with governments, universities, community organisations, businesses and families on the development and delivery of digital, archival, collections, and public history projects. Mike currently works as a professional historian and archives consultant, and teaches archives and information management for Adelaide University.
