The Wilson History Oration

Out of the Blue: collaborative and community-based history in Australia

When: 2 June 2022, 17.30-18.30

Where: Online webinar – https://zoom.us/j/98784599446.

Associate Professor Tanya Evans will present the inaugural Wilson History Oration for Professional Historians Australia.

Tanya will take a deep dive into a multi-faceted approach to public history. She will focus on a current project – an historic site in the Blue Mountains in NSW – and will discuss her collaboration with local and family historians, environmental specialists, heritage practitioners and archaeologists.

The Wilson History Oration is an annual online lecture for an eminent speaker to reflect and share experiences on history research, writing and audience engagement. The Oration commemorates the life of Dr Bill Wilson (1942-2021) who was a strong advocate for public history and the work of professional historians in Australia.
